My goal is to make counseling a positive and rewarding experience for you and your family. I have a wide range of experiences that allow me to relate to clients from many different situations. I was a professional golfer and a military spouse. I am the mother of two small children. I’ve been a stay at home mom and a working mother. I know the challenge of wanting to best prepare your child for their future.
As a parent, I know the desire to help your children reach their greatest potential by giving them the right tools for success. Your child’s success starts with a safe environment. I will meet your child at their level, working with them to build rapport so we can develop an individualized plan to best address their needs and support a reduction of symptoms along with emotional growth.
My approach identifies areas of strength and areas for growth in your child. This begins by gaining a detailed history and understanding of your child’s needs. As a team, we will implement the strategies and tools that work best for your child at home, in school and in the community. I use a variety of modalities that can include CBT, Mindfulness, Sand Tray and Animal Assisted Therapies.
As the wife of a military veteran, I understand the challenges faced by military families, from deployments to starting at a new school. I know what it’s like to raise kids while your spouse is deployed. I stand ready to help you find strategies so that your children can thrive even in difficult times.
I particularly enjoy providing training to educators and child care providers on attachment, emotional regulation, and trauma often presents themselves in a school or child-care setting. I frequently offer training workshops that combine information, skills and tools that professionals can draw upon in their valuable work with children. All trainings are highly experiential and include space for questions about specific concerns that participants or their students may have. Information about upcoming training opportunities can be found under the ‘Workshops’ tab at the top of the page.
I hold a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wright State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Coastal Carolina University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Ohio and Virginia. My clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents and their families that have experienced ADHD, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, ODD, OCD, PTSD, depression, anxiety, conversion disorder, reactive attachment disorder, autism spectrum, substance use disorder, sexual behavior concerns and victims of sexual abuse.
